This book is about a little girl named Sara whose father was a rich man. She used to live in India, but her father decided to set her in Miss Minchin’s school in London. She was the richest girl in the school so Miss Minchin, the school principle, liked her and gave her own room. Everybody liked Sara because she tell stories, except of one girl called Lavinia. she hated Sara especially when she knew that Sara’s father is working in diamond miner.
While celebrating Sara’s birthday in the school, she received a letter that contains two cruel news that changed her life in school. The first news was her father’s sudden death and she become an orphan. The second news was about her father’s friend who stole his money and there weren’t diamonds, so Sara become a sad poor servant in miss Minchin’s school.
Sara had a friend named Beckey and they work together. One day an Indian gentleman moved into the house next door, She started to get to know Ram Dass which was a servant for the Indian gentleman. They become new friends. In winter it become cold so Ram Dass and Mr Carrisford, the Indian gentleman, planned to set warm fire for her, a table full of food and some books without telling Sara it was from therm. The next night Ram Dass’s monkey came to Sara attic so in the morning she went to their house to return it. Mr Carrisford saw her and he start to talk to her, then he knew that she is Raldh’s daughter and he was looking for her for two years. His illness slow him from searching her. He explained to her that he has her father’s diamond that he discovered in the miner. Sara became rich again and she lived with Mr Carrisford and Beckey.
I liked this book because I learnt that the person should have faith and confident in himself, also to have patience.
